The Leadership Workshop: Crafting a Personal Impact Roadmap with the Myers Briggs Type Indicator

On May 10 and May 17, 2024, I had the privilege of conducting a transformative workshop titled “Leadership Workshop: Crafting a Personal Impact Roadmap with the Myers Briggs Type Indicator.” This event brought together nine dedicated participants from various organizations, all eager to delve into the depths of their personality types and enhance their leadership skills.

Workshop Overview

The workshop was designed to guide participants through a journey of self-discovery, self-awareness, and personal growth using the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). Here’s a brief overview of what we covered:

  1. Discover Your MBTI Type
    • Participants began by uncovering the mystery behind their personality types with the MBTI assessment. This provided clarity on their preferences and tendencies, helping them understand themselves on a deeper level.
  2. Enhance Self-Awareness
    • We explored how each participant’s MBTI type influences their thoughts, emotions, and interactions. This session aimed to develop heightened self-awareness, empowering them to make intentional choices aligned with their authentic selves.
  3. Improve Communication Skills
    • Participants learned how to communicate effectively with individuals of different personality types. This session focused on enhancing interpersonal skills, building stronger connections, and fostering collaboration in both personal and professional relationships.
  4. Cultivate Team Harmony
    • Understanding the diversity of personality types within a group setting was crucial. We explored how teams can capitalize on individual strengths to achieve collective success, creating a harmonious and productive work environment.
  5. Strategies for Growth
    • Participants unearthed strategies for personal and professional growth based on their MBTI type. They learned to leverage their strengths, address potential blind spots, and embrace a path of continuous development.

Session Highlights

Session 1: Type Verification
  • In the Type Verification session, participants delved into the MBTI dichotomies through multiple team activities. They learned about the differences between Extraversion & Introversion, Sensing & Intuition, Thinking & Feeling, and Judging & Perceiving. This understanding helped individuals identify their “true type” or “natural preferences,” recognize their non-preferences, and identify areas for growth and development.
Session 2: Understanding Your Personal Impact Style
  • In this session, teams participated in understanding their own and each other’s personal impact styles through a series of team activities. The focus was on helping teams effectively use their preferred types, develop their non-preferences, and bridge communication gaps among team members.

Personal Impact Reports

Each participant received a unique 26-page Personal Impact Report, providing comprehensive insights into their MBTI type. The report covers:

  • Type Verification: Detailed analysis of the participant’s MBTI type, confirming their natural preferences.
  • Self-Awareness: In-depth exploration of how their personality type influences thoughts, emotions, and interactions.
  • Communication Strategies: Tips and techniques for effective communication with other personality types.
  • Team Dynamics: Understanding team roles and how to leverage individual strengths for collective success.
  • Growth Plan: Personalized strategies for continuous personal and professional development.

Follow-Up Session

The training also includes a follow-up session where I will reconnect with the participants in a few weeks to find out how they are doing. This session aims to reinforce the concepts learned, address any challenges faced, and celebrate their progress.

Target Audience

The workshop was tailored for supervisors, managers, CEOs, directors, and entrepreneurs, providing them with the tools to enhance their leadership capabilities and foster a collaborative work environment.
